Trauma and addiction are deeply interconnected, creating a cycle that can be difficult to break. About 59% of people diagnosed with PTSD develop issues with substance use and dependence. In fact, 75% of women and men in substance abuse treatment report histories of abuse and trauma. Women, in particular, are more likely to develop PTSD after experiencing trauma, and for many, this leads to a reliance on substances to cope.

Meet Mandi Gardner

Mandi Gardner is the founder of Holistic Evolution Shala. Her personal transformation through trauma and recovery has inspired her to help other women break free from their past and reclaim their lives.
Mandi is an Ashtanga yoga teacher and DBT skills coach with a profound commitment to healing and personal growth. Having grown up experiencing childhood trauma, Mandi began her transformative journey at 20 years old, starting with yoga and later diving deeply into Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) after recognizing the challenges posed by being raised by a parent with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). For 20 years, she battled addictive behaviors and alcoholism, eventually overcoming these struggles through her dedication to yoga, DBT skills, and personal healing.
With 23 years of experience in yoga and a significant life shift post-DBT, Mandi began teaching yoga in 2014 and fully dedicated herself to Ashtanga yoga in 2018. Today, she channels her journey into helping others heal from childhood trauma and addictive behaviors, empowering women to transform their lives holistically.
